I was reading about gladiators here, and I stated to think on how today is different from those days. Sure we have made huge improvements, where they displayed real violence we entertain our people with pretend violence. Where they tortured and killed criminals publicly, some western government still torture and kill prisoners, but at least they are ashamed of it, aren't?

Well, after a lot of thought, I decided that for me we did got better. Even though our society still condemn people to the death and enjoy watch violence, we do know that it's all pretend violence and we react badly to real violence. Sure, there are still many people who would want to kill every other people who do things in a way they don't like, just look at all the anti-Arabic, anti-gay, anti-Jew movements in several countries.

Sure, we are better, but we do still have a long way to go, let hope we as a society don't sidetrack.
